Day 1: Arusha / Serengeti Airstrip – One Day in the Wild

Start the day early morning by around 4am. Whether you’re coming in from Arusha or landing at a Serengeti airstrip, the day starts early.

The sky is just starting to soften as your vehicle heads into the open.

After hours of early morning drives, you arrive the Serengeti by mid-morning, you’re deep in the bush.

The air smells of dust and sage. Lions lie half-hidden beneath acacia trees, their tails twitching with flies. Elephants pass close—so close you feel the ground tremble.

You witness Giraffes appearing first—silent, elegant silhouettes against the gold. Wildebeest stretch in long lines across the grass. A cheetah perches on a termite mound, scanning the horizon.

After a vast encounter, you stop for a bush picnic, your view interrupted only by the occasional warthog or passing zebra. It’s not quiet out here, but it feels peaceful.

The afternoon brings another rhythm. Hippos grunt in the river. Vultures circle overhead. A leopard, if you’re lucky, drapes lazily in a tree fork.

Since the day is short, you must embark on your transfer back to Arusha before you are dropped off by around 8pm.
